GG9 General Meet Information

Posted on August 8, 2014 by Splash

Medina062The following email is from the meet director:

Pool Safety
USMS rules do not allow for diving in the pool during warm ups. The use of pull buoys, fins or kick boards are also prohibited. Please be considerate of swimmers warming up and try not to congregate in the shallow end of the pool making it difficult for swimmers to do flip turns.

Sprint lanes
Each day at 8:50am we will open up lane 2 and 4 for sprint lanes. Please be aware of this and clear those two lanes by 8:45am so we can start allowing people to practice diving off the blocks. Your cooperation is very much appreciated by all the swimmers!

Fly Over Starts
Will be implementing fly over starts during the meet:  Once a swimmer has finished her/his race, she/he is to remain in the pool at the finish, quite and motionless. The starter will call the next race and only once the swimmers have dived into the pool will you be allowed to exit the pool. The walls at CSU are high; be prepared to swim under the lanes to the nearest ladder. Do not attempt to exit the pool until the starter judge has motioned you to do so. You should have plenty of time to exit the pool before the swimmers return. Please stay off the touch pads as you move between lanes.

Captain meeting
I will be calling a Captain/team leader meeting on Sunday Aug 10 at 8:45am. Please send only one representative to this meeting. We will be discussing relays and few other important announcements for the teams. Meet at the lifeguard station.

Swimming Sponsor
A big thanks to Hammerhead Swim & Tri Shop and TYR for donating water bottles, key chains, hats, visors, goggles, swim caps and more. We will be giving these away during the meet for heat winners, random picks, coming in fourth (I know that’s feels) or relay team with the most spirit. So don’t be surprised when one of our volunteers walks up to you with a gift and shakes your hand!

Theme Days
Don’t forget about our theme days! I have included a picture of these smart looking TYR bags donated by Cleveland Aquatics. Sun: TBA Mon: best warm up comp suit Tues: TBA Wed Best team cheer/cheerleader team sprit.
