State Champions – 2 Consecutive Years
Congratulations to the 2016 Ohio Splash State Championship team on an incredible performance at the state short course yards meet held April 2, 2016 at Ohio State University’s McCorkle Aquatic Pavilion.
Twenty-three Splashers competed in 93 individual events and 10 relay entries. With a combined team score of 2057 points, Splash secured the state champion trophy and title for the second year in a row.
Splashers set 10 new meet records; including the 500 freestyle, 200 freestyle, 100 individual medley, 100 backstroke, 50 butterfly, 50 backstroke, and 200 Individual Medley Relay.
“I am bursting with pride from the hard work and dedication of this incredible team,” said Andrew Peppercorn, Ohio Splash board President. “The key to our strength is our focus on team work and camaraderie. Our team’s diversity affords us the opportunity to field swimmers in multiple age brackets from 24 to 65. And what an awesome job those folks did: breaking meet records, shattering personal bests, and overall having a great time together!”
Results of the meet have been posted and are available here, along with team scores.
An exhausted but ecstatic team now turns their focus on the International Gay and Lesbian Aquatics (IGLA) World Championship coming up in August 2016 in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada.
